Committed to Parenting: Perfection Not Required

by Matthew Waterman (Guest)

Parenting requires commitment, work, and lots of self-care. In this ever-busier world, being a parent is really difficult, but our UU Principles help guide our parenting and shape the lives that we have as parents. Come, share community and some humor, as we speak about the joys and struggles of parenting, and how to be the best parents we can be (even if we aren’t perfect).

After a career in banking and accounting, Matthew left Wyoming with his family to attend Starr King School for the Ministry. Matthew and his spouse, Deanne, are parents to four great children, one remaining at home with them. Now in his third year of seminary, Matthew is finding his prophetic voice from a place of authenticity, although he still hasn’t been “Parent of the Year.”
