October marks 30 years since the Berlin Wall fell and Communism ended in Russia and the Soviet-controlled republics. As the Cold War ceased, America’s deadly enemies became new allies. After generations of repression, people claimed their long-denied freedoms. But now, as a new totalitarian impulse threatens peace, liberty and human dignity around the world, what have we learned from those times of terror? Irina plays music from Soviet times.
