Notice: Cancellations at UUSS

In compliance with guidance from the Department of Public Health and the California Governor’s proclamation to mitigate the Covid-19 virus, we will be suspending Sunday services, Religious Education programs and Nursery Care at UUSS from now through March 31. In addition, larger group activities at UUSS are cancelled through March 31, or until further notice. Our UUSS Board of Trustees affirms this decision.
[EDIT: for up to date calendar and information about our Streaming Worship Services click here.]
The leadership of groups of fewer than 25 people should decide if they can continue to meet while following the parameters of the Governor’s proclamation (see the link below). Certainly with fewer activities at UUSS there will be more space in which a group could spread out. An alternative for your group or committee would be to meet online through the church’s Zoom account; if that is of interest, please contact Rev. Lucy.
We care about the health of all of you in this congregation and the guests who come to visit us, so we know that this is the proper action to take at this time.
At the same time, this is profoundly disappointing. We love seeing you and witnessing the joy, creativity, warmth and love that emerge when UUSS folks come together to deepen our lives and be a force for healing in the world.
Please know that we are exploring alternatives for us to stay connected as a congregation in the days and weeks ahead. We’ll be in touch about options for doing that. We’ll include those in upcoming Ministerial Message emails and under Updates at www.uuss.org.
Meanwhile, we invite you to be in touch with us, especially if you need spiritual support or pastoral care.
The Unitarian Universalist Association (our national denomination) has been providing information and advice to member congregations, including the recommendation that we follow the guidance of public health authorities in local areas. In this region, UUSS is not alone in suspending group activities.
We appreciate the depth of compassion that thrives in this congregation.
We have great faith in all of you and feel deep gratitude for your support. In these times of challenge and anxiety, we are holding you in our hearts. We wish you peace and health.
Love,
Roger and Lucy
Rev. Dr. Roger Jones & Rev. Lucy Bunch, UUSS Ministers
