Family Testimonial for Stewardship

Kurt & Stephanie made this video of the testimonial they would have given in the March 15 service at UUSS if it hadn’t been cancelled. I appreciate their flexibility as well as their support of the mission and ministries of this congregation.
Stewardship Month began March 1. This is when members, friends and other supporters make their pledges of support to UUSS for the coming budget year. As of March 13, UUSS has received 47% of the goal for pledges for 2020-21.
In these times, everybody who supports the mission and ministries of this congregation is making a crucial difference. Thank you! Our Stewardship theme is Leading in Love: Time to Thrive.
Please click here to see the Stewardship Page, including a Monthly Giving Guide, a Message from our Ministers, and a 2020-21 PLEDGE FORM which you can print out.
Text of their Testimonial
Kurt
Hello. We are Kurt and Stephanie Hardaway. Along with our child, Dante, we began attending UUSS in 2012 and finally became pledging members 3 years ago. Religion or Spiritual Enlightenment had never been a part of my life, in fact, it was a major turnoff. After our son was born, we wanted to raise him in a community where everyone is welcome. We tried a few different places before landing here at UUSS, but none of them felt right for us. A lot of churches use the phrase “all are welcome here”, but at UUSS we felt right away that they actually meant those words. In my opinion, UUSS encompasses what is good and right in the world.
Stephanie
My path was a little different. I was raised Catholic, but in my teens started moving toward more Eastern spiritual practices. After our son was born, that ever-evolving spiritual path led us here and I’m so glad it did. We found a place where all three of us, with different ideas and beliefs, can come together to deepen our lives and be a force for healing in the world. When I first heard those words spoken here, I felt at home. I love being involved in a place that walks the walk. This building is filled with people living our shared values out loud. When that automatic debit hits our account every month, it’s one of the few times I’m actually happy to see money leaving our bank account. That’s because I know that money is going toward sustaining the future of this congregation and the programs and community work that are important to our family and the values we hold dear. Thank you for joining us to make all of this possible by making your pledge.

I love it! Thanks for being here, Stephanie, Kurt, and Dante!
I couldn’t get the volume loud enough to listen, but I enjoyed reading Kurt and Stephanie’s words. Very heartwarming.
