Our Ministers’ Letter for the Stewardship Campaign

“We are not surprised, but we are grateful and proud.”
Dear Members and Friends,
Together we have been through a couple of painful and unsettling years. We couldn’t have predicted the devastation of the pandemic or the danger and chaos in American democracy. But they did happen. Looking back, both of us are inspired by the resilience, generosity, kindness, commitment, and love which have sustained this community we call UUSS. We are not surprised, but we are grateful and proud.
Despite the pandemic, many of our groups found ways to maintain connections online and out of doors. More than 200 people have participated in our Soul Matters small groups. Newcomers found us online, and many have joined. In mid-2021, we celebrated a return to the campus, and we became a dual-platform congregation. Online streaming makes participation in Sunday services and small groups accessible to many people, near and far.
UUSS volunteers provided meals and personal supplies to hungry and homeless neighbors and winter kits to new refugee families. We cleaned up our local river parkway, made interfaith progress on environmental policy, and continued our commitment to racial justice work. In times of challenge, UUSS keeps a focus on our mission:
We come together to deepen our lives and be a force for healing in the world.
No matter what the future brings, we are tending to community in the same time-honored ways. When you show up, lend a hand, lift your voice, offer your time, greet another person, and provide a compassionate presence, you are meeting the moment and tending to community. Your financial support also makes a difference to this community, now and in the months to come.
Your generous pledge will ensure the vitality of this congregation by sustaining the programs provided by our dedicated volunteers, staff members, and ministers. Making a pledge to UUSS is about putting faith in one another. Generous giving sustains our mission. It deepens our lives.
Every year, we ministers give at least 5% of our gross income to UUSS. We are committed to its mission and values. We are grateful for your talents, courage, trust, and love as we tend to community.
We invite you to make the most generous pledge you can. Your generosity will make a difference as we meet this moment and every new moment, together. Thank you!
Yours in faith,
Rev. Roger & Rev. Lucy
