“Special Request” Continues This Weekend!

“Special Request,” Theater One’s current production, received rave reviews during last opening weekend’s run. The play is directed by UUSS member Lonon Smith and written by Tim Foley and continues Saturday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the UUSS Main Stage. (No performance this Friday, Jan. 11)
“Special Request” is about a dying man who makes a request of a young barista that at first offends her, then leads to an unlikely friendship based on a mutual love of the written word. Nearly everyone misunderstands their bond—not the girl’s musician boyfriend and certainly not the man’s protective older sister. This is a play about love, the paths we choose, and the legacy we leave behind.
Performances continue through January 27. General admission is $15, $13 for seniors, students.

I enjoyed “Special Request” last Saturday evening. A very strong cast playing real and imperfect people. It was humorous and poignant. Two hours long with one intermission.
