Theater One is holding auditions for the “Special Request” a never performed play written by Tim Foley and directed by Lonon Smith on Saturday, July 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Fahs Room at UUSS.
“Special Request” is about a dying man who makes a request of a young barista that at first offends her, then leads to an unlikely friendship based on a mutual love of the written word. Nearly everyone misunderstands their bond—not the girl’s musician boyfriend and certainly not the man’s protective older sister. This is a play about love, the paths we choose, and the legacy we leave behind.
The cast consists of two men parts – Gary, 60s, quiet, not flamboyant, and Spike, 20s, who is dedicated to a rock musician’s life and three women parts – Melissa, 27, an employee at Coffee Haven, Bridget, Gary’s protective older sister, and Ellen in her early 60s and still beautiful.
The auditions consist of cold reading from the script. No roles are pre-cast. Head shots and resume are preferred but not necessary.
The performances are Fridays/Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. from August 31 through September 16 with no performance on Friday, September 7 in the UUSS Main Stage (eight performances with the possibility of an additional industry night performance).
