Ukulele Fun!

On Friday, May 11, ukulele enthusiasts enjoyed a showing of the documentary, “The Mighty Uke” plus a jam session & sing-along brought to us by Abby & Irwin Rosenblum and Joan Rubenson as an Auction event. There was even popcorn and iced tea! The film ranged from the invention of the ukulele, through the 1920’s American craze for all things Hawaiian, to today when so many people of different nations, cultures, and ages are turning to the ukulele to express themselves and connect to others. Turns out that Canada introduces kids to music in the schools by teaching ukulele, and we were astonished to see dozens of students playing “Flight of the bumblebee”! Attending were Melisa, Joan, Judy, Nathan, Nancy, Abby & Irwin, Sally, Min Zhao, Ray, Terrie, and more friends.
Thanks, Abby, for the photos and the video of us doing “This land is your land”.
