Music for Body and Soul
Rev. Lucy Bunch preaching with Rev. Dr. Roger Jones, Worship Associate Courtney O’Neil, Music Director Anthony Tavianini, Musical guests the Sacramento Master Singers (Ralph Hughes, Director Natsuki Fukasawa, accompanist)
Each year on the first Sunday in May, we consider the care and feeling of our bodies – and this year we explore the power of music. As historian Karen Armstrong says “It is the most corporeal of the arts: it is produced by breath, voice, horsehair, shells, guts, and skins and reaches resonances in our bodies at levels deeper than will or consciousness.”
- Guided Labyrinth Walk in the Meadow at 9:30.
- Joys & Sorrows candles & prayer cards in the sanctuary before the service.

The Miracle of Ordinary Things
A Circle Service for all Ages, led by Rev. Dr. Roger Jones with Rev. Lucy Bunch, Worship Associates Andy Cramer and Karen Sparrow, Music Director Anthony Tavianini, Pianist Irina Tchantceva, altar design by Terrie Taylor.
Mother's Day
The mass production of disposable goods can lure us to take for granted the objects that make up everyday life. Consider kitchen tools, plumbing fixtures, night lights, and paper clips as ordinary miracles. Sticky notes, eyeglasses, and garden hoses make life easier. Moreover, there are many “ordinary” human jobs and roles which bless our days. Let’s give the our thanks and praise! Do you have an ordinary object that has a rich story behind it? Let Rev. Roger know by May 4!
- Newcomers Orientation and tour of campus at 11:50 a.m. (Welcome Table)

Defending Human Reason, Promoting Human Dignity: Let’s Hear it for Humanism!
Rev. Dr. Roger Jones preaching with Rev. Lucy Bunch, Worship Associate Celia Buckley, UUSS choir with Music Director Anthony Tavianini, Pianist Irina Tchantceva
Congregational Meeting Day
Religious Humanism has had a home in Unitarian Universalism since the mid-1800s, affirming that you need not believe in God to be ethical, moral, spiritual, or worthy of respect. At its best, Humanism promotes mutual understanding, community-building, peace, and environmental sustainability. The values of human dignity, reason, freedom, and compassion continue to call us together. They call us forward with courage.
- Tai Chi/Qi Gong at 9:30 in the Fahs Room.
- Congregational Meeting right after the service; all are welcome; a quorum of members is needed to vote on the budget, strategic plan, and nominees. (Humanism also affirms the practice of democracy!)
